I encourage students to practice 30 to 45 minutes per day. Their practice time is divided between technical exercises, scales and arpeggios, and repertoire. My students are encouraged to practice on an acoustic piano as opposed to a keyboard or digital piano to develop proper finger strength. I also prepare students for state competitions, scholarships, college auditions, district and state band auditions, solo and ensemble festival and encourage them to develop an overall joy of music. Music requires hard work and patience, but overall, should be a fun and heartwarming experience.
